Fresh homemade bread! Fresh homemade Buttermilk Bread made the old fashioned way! My mouth water at the prospect of creating a couple fragrant loaves as I set about assembling the ingredients; yeast, sugar, flour, salt and of course, buttermilk. Did I remember them all? Oh yes, butter or margarine, also, and some easily accessible water. Later as a punched and turned the soft, elastic dough memories came crowding in. Pleasant memories of when various little children were at my elbow as they ‘helped’ along. I recall many a child from bygone years when baking was a weekly ritual and not just for a special occasion like it was now. Precious children; my own at first; sometimes, or shall we say, often, making their own tiny pan of cinnamon rolls. Later there were children I babysat, and still later the sweet, lovely face of a tiny granddaughter who was at my side.
But I said this was for a special occasion, and it certainly was. I was preparing a huge Costco
Pan of meltingly rich Cinnamon Rolls and Buttermilk Bread for our Christmas company! My, this would be a special time! Stay tuned...
